The First Women In A Man’s World

Believe it or not, the first female firefighter goes back to the early 1800s! Her name was Molly Williams; she lived in New York and was a slave.

I Need Some Advice

I don’t know what to do. The political climate is contentious, and we are all drawing lines in the sand. It’s all over social media, it is on every news channel, TV station, and in our homes. I was out to dinner with my husband, and you can hear people at the other tables talking about it. It was happening at our table, too. This is where I need some advice.

Listening and Learning Through the Sadness

What a week! I am not going to lie, it had some great moments, but the sad definitely outweighed the good. It happens a few times a year, this feeling of not wanting to take a shower. Not wanting to leave the house. I just want to plant myself on the couch, watch TV, and be alone. Always the holidays, again late in winter and then the summer. Being sad when you know you should be happy.

College Advice From Students & A Mom

This is the time of year when you see all the recent graduates getting ready to go to college. Even if your kid is a sophomore or a junior, like mine, this advice isn’t going to change. Not much has changed in the 16-year span of college for my kids, so this should be timeless. The only thing that will change is the price – always up!

Graduation Day: The End of an Era

The alarm went off at 7:55; my heart jumped and the tears popped into my eyes. My head told me to get up and move because I don’t want to be crying all day.
