June is National Pride Month, when we honor the struggle for equal rights and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, it seemed fitting to talk about the story of how I learned Roberta was part of that community.

Addiction and Alcoholism In My Family

Three of my kids have had to deal with learning disabilities and/or psychiatric disorders; Joey has Down Syndrome, my son Artie, has ADD with a reading disability and my Isabella was diagnosed with ADHD. I refused to put either one on any medication because I never believed that was the answer. Addiction is hereditary and runs in the family, so I always stayed away from anything that could be addicting.

Chapter 1, My Name Is…

Please allow me to introduce myself…. My name is … Sandra Jean Hughes Goodwin Gavin Capobianco Riguzzi. It’s a mouthful and sooooo long that I had to start a new line just to fit it. I have so many aliases that nobody will ever be able to pin a crime on me, and if you ever googled my name, the thing spins and spins and spins because it gets all confused! Ultimately it will probably find my Facebook page, but all you have to do is click the link on my blog – it’s so much easier that way. So back to the name and how it came to be… here is my Readers Digest version, for now, all the fun(sarcasm) details will come later: When I was born, my mother was technically still married to her first husband, Donald Hughes.   They had been separated, and she was dating my father, Joseph Goodwin.  She got pregnant, and Joe took off like the chicken he was.  She had me while still legally married to the Hughes guy, so…
